Sulrij (Sun) has been dancing since 1996. She was a member of Desert Orchid Dance Company for over 3 years although now she is now seeking out new inspirations. "I love every aspect of the dance, from costume creation to performance." The dance is the most ancient form of celebration and gives me a sense of sister hood and confidence. Sulrij specializes in folkloric, tribal style and cabaret Middle Eastern Dance. "I love to teach. I didn't realize teaching would be so rewarding and such a learning experience. I was blessed to have had that opportunity." Still a student herself, she credits many teachers with her stylings and abilities. They include: Zahirah, Sharahvar, Johanna, Tamar, Jamileh, Yasamina and Enheduana of Orange County California. "Every dancer I see is my teacher. Every dancer I have ever watched has taught me something valuable." Sulrij has performed at festivals, restaurants, parties and venues in Southern and Northern California as well as her home state of Utah and taken many workshops from other dancers in the western united states.
