Black Star Belly Dance Company

Black Star Dance Company was formed in 2007 by Shalee Denver. Black Star is directed by Shalee and Kelsey Covington. Shalee and Kelsey have been dancing together for 9 years and began taking belly dance classes together from Nikki McCorristin at the age of 16. After taking a year of classes from Nikki, they began taking workshops from various artists including: Aziza, Rachel Brice, Mardi Love, Zoe Jakes, Jim Boz, and Kami Liddle. They also studied with Corrie Walker director of Kashmir Dance Company and have taken classes from Stephanie Buranek and Christel and Isis of La Mystique Dance Company out of Salt Lake City, Utah. Shalee and Kelsey have formed their own style of belly dance fusing different types of dance which includes: Modern, American Tribal Style, Cabaret, Egyptian, and Hip Hop. They have performed in shows all over the Western United States and currently teach classes in Springville and Spanish Fork, Utah.
